Tooli help - setting up the plotter tool-head

Setting up the PLOTTER tool-head

Plotter

Tap PLOT in Toolbox screen, you will be prompted to install the plotter tool-head.

Slide tool-head into dovetail slide. At this point, leave the tool sitting quite high and tighten the thumbscrews to hold the tool-head in place. Attach the cable by inserting the plug into the socket on top of the tool-head and screw down the lock-nut (do not over-tighten).

With the tool-head attached you can now tap Seek Limits - Tooli will move the head-carriage to back-right corner (slowly) until the limit switches are triggered. The head carriage will remain in this position at the end of the procedure.

You will then be taken to the home-screen for the plotter tool-head.

When loading the pen into the plotter tool-head you may like to move the head-carriage so you can easily reach the tool-head.

move head

To do this tap MOVE in the Move tool-head screen, tap PRESENT TOOL.
The tool-head will move to the preset present tool position.

To load pen into plotter tool-head, insert appropriate sized shim, insert pen into shim then tighten thumb screw.

Set up plotter

Use the plot 'SETUP' function to set the Z axis height before each new job. Tap SETUP

Set dip allowance

The ‘Dip allowance’ allows for negative deviations in the work surface.
Select required dip allowance - Z axis will move down.

Set plotter tool height

Put work surface in place (in the example shown below it’s paper), place a peice of thin plastic under the pen (to prevent ink bleed).
Loosen the head-carriage thumbscrews and lower the plotter tool-head so the pen just touches the surface. Tighten thumbscrews to lock tool-head in place.
Tap Done in the setup screen - the Z axis will move up so the pen no longer touches the surface. The plotter tool-head is now set up and ready to go.
